Payroll Manager
Posted 17 minutes 7 seconds ago by Mitchell Adam
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Payroll Manager to join a well-established and growing organisation that is continuing to invest in its people, processes, and future. This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys taking ownership, leading a team, and making a genuine difference to the way a payroll function operates.
As Payroll Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the smooth and successful running of the payroll function, overseeing a small team and ensuring multiple payrolls are delivered accurately, efficiently, and on time. This is much more than a processing role; you will be the subject matter expert within the business, providing guidance on complex payroll matters, supporting the wider Finance and HR teams, and acting as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to review and improve existing payroll processes, introduce efficiencies, strengthen controls, and ensure the business remains fully compliant with changing legislation. Alongside managing the day-to-day operation, you'll play an important role in developing your team, coaching and mentoring colleagues, setting standards, and creating a team culture.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience managing or leading a payroll team, with the confidence to take ownership of the full payroll function, allocate workloads effectively, and ensure multiple payroll deadlines are consistently achieved.
- A positive, approachable, and supportive leadership style, with a genuine passion for developing people, coaching team members, sharing knowledge, and creating a high-performing and collaborative payroll environment.
- Strong end-to-end UK payroll knowledge, including PAYE, National Insurance, workplace pensions, statutory payments, HMRC requirements, year-end processes, and relevant payroll legislation.
- A proactive approach to process improvement, with the ability to identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, strengthen controls, and introduce greater efficiencies across the function.
What You'll Receive
- The opportunity to take ownership of a key payroll function within a successful and growing organisation, giving you genuine autonomy and the ability to make a visible impact.
- Flexitime and a strong focus on work-life balance, giving you greater flexibility around your working day while still being part of a collaborative and supportive team.
- A comprehensive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, life assurance, and access to a wide range of lifestyle benefits and employee discounts.
- The chance to influence and improve existing payroll processes, with the freedom to introduce new ideas.
- Long-term stability with an established organisation that genuinely recognises and rewards its employees, including a variety of employee recognition and reward initiatives.
Summary
If you're an experienced payroll professional ready to take ownership of a busy and varied payroll function, this could be an excellent next step in your career. If you're looking for a business where you can lead, improve, develop, and genuinely make your mark, we'd love to hear from you.
