Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly organised Pastoral Manager to join a supportive secondary school in Darlington on a full-time long-term temporary basis. This position will be permanent for the right person.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated pastoral professional who is passionate about supporting young people's wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development within a secondary school environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting students across the school by:

  • Providing pastoral support and guidance to students
  • Promoting positive behaviour and helping maintain high standards across the school
  • Supporting attendance, punctuality, and student wellbeing
  • Working closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding teams, teaching staff, parents, and external agencies
  • Managing behavioural incidents and supporting restorative approaches
  • Identifying barriers to learning and implementing appropriate interventions
  • Supporting vulnerable students and students with additional needs
  • Building positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and achievement
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Have previous experience working within a pastoral, behaviour, inclusion, or student support role in a school setting
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be calm, resilient, and able to manage challenging situations professionally
  • Have strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Be passionate about supporting the wellbeing and development of young people
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a wider pastoral and safeguarding team
