PURPOSE

The Resonate West Africa Partnership Consultant serves as a consultant to national partners of Resonate throughout West Africa. This position will serve as a resource to organizations and national churches in West Africa in their outreach efforts.

This position offers a flexible work schedule, attractive benefits package (including retirement fund contribution) and three weeks vacation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Lead the development and implementation of ministry agreements with national partner organizations.
  2. Communicate with national partners and leaders, including the receipt and review of reports from partners on joint activities and the use of annual grants.
  3. Encourage and support the leadership of the Christian Reformed Church - Nigeria, Reformed Church of Christ for Nations, and Universal Reformed Christian Church Mission Departments.
  4. Coordinate with other CRCNA agencies and related groups who are interested or active in West Africa.
  5. Actively seek new partnership opportunities throughout West Africa.
  6. Act as an advisor to the Missions Departments of our national church partners.
  7. Serve as a resource to organizations and national churches in their outreach efforts.
  8. Teach courses and lead workshops on missions and evangelism that engage and encourage West African missionaries, pastors, evangelists, and church leaders.

Service with North America

  1. Maintain regular correspondence with CRCNA churches and members about ministry activities and highlights.
  2. Correspond with CRCNA churches and members about special projects and giving opportunities.
  3. Ensure that notes of thanks are sent to donors promptly.
  4. Facilitate reciprocal exchanges between the CRCNA and ministry collaborators in West Africa for youth leadership formation.
  5. Return to North America periodically for Reconnect visits to report on God's mission within youth and listen for ways to connect the CRCNA and other entities in the formation of youth.
  6. Provide the CRCNA with insight and resources about youth missional formation from the missionary's knowledge and expertise, encouraging a deeper passion and involvement in global missions.
  7. Communicate the nature and impact of Resonate's ministry activities to the CRCNA and others through written communications (at least quarterly) and through teaching and speaking engagements, especially on Reconnect visits.
  8. Participate in support-raising for Resonate Global Mission's ministries by developing and maintaining a network of supporting churches and individuals in North America.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation, or of a church in communion with the CRCNA, and agreement with the doctrine of the church signified by signing a covenant statement.
  2. A deserved reputation for integrity and spiritual maturity.
  3. Demonstrated commitment to the integral mission of the church.
  4. A solid understanding of Scripture, a love for the Gospel, and a heart for the unreached.
  5. Proven ability to collaborate with people from a variety of perspectives.
  6. Proven capacity to be creative and innovative in complex situations without a pre-determined map or plan.
  7. Demonstrated intercultural experience and competence.
  8. Self-motivated with excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  9. Training and experience in cross-cultural ministry, preferably in an African context or in global missions.
  10. Proficiency in English is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Master's degree (completed or in progress) in a relevant field of study.
  2. Demonstrated experience in related ministry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Resonate West Africa Partnership Consultant will be located in Jos and will report to the Resonate Regional Leader for West and Central Africa. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

INTERMEDIATE STEPS

Step Missionary Candidate: The purpose of this position is to prepare for international service by building a network of prayer, care and financial support in North America that will enable future ministry. Ordinarily, this will progress from part-time to full-time as the support network grows through the work of the candidate and the missionary support team that is designed for this purpose. One can expect to be in this role for 6 to 12 months, depending on how quickly the support network comes together. The pay range for this step is on the CRCNA Domestic scale.

Step Missionary in Training: The purpose of this role is to develop language and culture skills, ministry skills and relationships that will enable future ministry, and begin to use those in ministry. Ordinarily, one can expect to be in this role for 6 to 18 months, depending on prior background and experience. The pay range for this step is US or Canada on the CRCNA International scale.
