Contract: Maternity Cover - Full Academic Year
Working Pattern: Part time (3 days per week - days to be confirmed)
Salary: Paid to scale
OverviewWe are working with a welcoming and inclusive co educational all through academy school in Lewisham, looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic English Teacher to join from September 2026 on a maternity cover contract for the full academic year. This opportunity is for an educator passionate about contributing to a supportive school community that prides itself on high standards and student achievement across all key stages.
Responsibilities- Teach English across relevant key stages (KS3-KS4 and potentially KS5 depending on experience).
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Mark students' work and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Support students' academic progress and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues within a well established English department.
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have recent UK classroom experience teaching English.
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for English literature and language.
- Experience with planning and marking is essential.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage learners of all abilities.
- A proactive and flexible approach to teaching.
- You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview.
