Part-time Caretaker

About this job

The part time Caretaker role will require the successful candidate to:

• Work in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Community Council and its standards of conduct and practice.
• Follow council policies and adhere to strict standards of confidentiality.
• Work with and seek advice from the Senior Caretaker to ensure tasks are completed on time and fully.
• Provide flexible cover for the Caretaker on leave and when needed.
• Carry out the daily tasks of the role of caretaker when required, for example: unlock and lock buildings and gates as required; prepare rooms for groups and bookings; prepare snooker tables and rooms for hire; answer calls and take bookings for all council facilities; take payment for hire when needed; carry out cleaning duties in buildings.
• Liaise with Council members, other staff and members of the public when needed.
• Carry out any other reasonable request from and report as required to the Clerk.

Requirements

• Have a good level of computer literacy.
• Have a good level of physical fitness.
• Have a practical and 'can do' attitude.
• Be willing to learn (with support and training).
• Be able to communicate with customers and other staff members in a friendly and respectful manner.

Terms and Conditions

• Working hours: 16 hours per week plus any additional required.
• Place of work: Old Carnegie Library, Parish Hall and other Council sites.
• Line management: the post holder reports to the Clerk of the Community Council.

Contract: Contract (NJC Scale 5 8, pro rata, £25,583 per year, with annual increases agreed upon review).
