Paralegal (12 Month FTC) - Marine

We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Marine team in Bournemouth on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in a specialist area of law, supporting marine insurance clients on a varied caseload while developing your legal and commercial skills.
About the RoleAs a Paralegal in our Marine team, you'll support fee earners on a range of marine insurance claims and related matters. You'll assist with case management, drafting, and client communication, while gaining exposure to both technical legal work and client facing responsibilities. This role offers a great opportunity to build your experience in a fast paced, collaborative environment, with plenty of scope to learn and develop.
Your Responsibilities Will Include- Supporting the management of a caseload of marine insurance claims.
- Assisting with document management, including preparing bundles and maintaining files.
- Drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Advising clients in writing, over the phone, and in meetings where appropriate.
- Managing client expectations and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Conducting legal research and contributing to case strategy.
- Identifying and escalating potential issues to supervisors.
- Responding to new client enquiries and supporting cross referral opportunities.
- Assisting with business development and marketing activities where required.
- Ensuring compliance with firm wide procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Keeping up to date with developments in marine law and legal practice.
- Previous experience in a legal or professional services environment (paralegal experience desirable).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and client facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Analytical and proactive, with a willingness to learn and develop.
- A collaborative team player with a positive and enthusiastic approach.
- Commercial awareness and interest in marine or insurance law.
- Strong IT skills, including Outlook, Word, and case management systems.
- Professional, discreet, and able to work on own initiative.
