Main duties of the jobThe Paediatric respiratory specialist team are delighted to be able to offer a fixed term post for a respiratory nurse specialist responsible for asthma management.
This is an externally funded role to take a lead role in implementing and monitoring the impact of a strategy to improve the care of wheeze and asthma in children and young people across Hampshire and the IOW.

Job responsibilitiesSpecific to this role is the suitability for agile working which is a mixture of on site and remote working. In addition, we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what's possible for the role and service.
Responsibilities:
- To contribute to the development of asthma practice across Hampshire and the IOW in conjunction with the needs of local services.
- To provide specialist training focusing on the implementation of the Asthma Bundle of Care as developed by key stakeholders.
- To promote a learning environment that ensures evidence based practice and optimal service delivery.
- To support Doctors, Nursing Staff and other health care professionals in their professional and personal development.
- To work in partnership with the Divisional Education and Practice Lead, the Multi Professional Team and other Clinical Educators to provide education to improve acuity practice, high quality clinical care and service delivery.
- To lead the development and delivery of the asthma educational programme as identified in the NHSE National Bundle of Care.
- To adhere at all times to the NMC Code of Conduct.
Experience and Skills:
- Flexibility in working will be essential.
- Ability to travel between sites within Hampshire area.
- To plan and manage an educational programme to enhance patient care and maintain standards of practice in managing paediatric asthma in primary and secondary care settings.
- To provide specialist advice and support to nursing, medical and allied professional staff.
- To keep abreast of government initiatives to enhance patient care, ensure initiatives are implemented and information is disseminated to all clinical staff.
- To work closely with the Care Group team for quality and staff development.
- To attend national/international conferences as well as identify opportunities for health care professionals to participate in promoting clinical practice/expertise from within the Care Group.
- Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register.
- Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master's Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio.
- Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice.
- Provide evidence of leading learning in practice.
- Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality.
- Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area.
- Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation.
- Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality.
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all.
- Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice.
- Counselling / advanced communication skills qualification / training.
- Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed.
- Multidisciplinary team working.
- Experience of nurse-led care / clinics in own practice.
- Team leadership role.
- Awareness of own leadership skills/style.
- Registered as an independent prescriber.
- Leadership Qualification / training.
