Job Description
Consultant Role - Paediatric Emergency Medicine (CHI Dublin) The Role 
- Clinical leadership within the Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) service
- Delivering care across Emergency Departments, Emergency Care Units, and Urgent Care Centres within CHI
- Participating in consultant rotas, including evening, weekend, and on-call commitments
- Supporting service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance
- Providing expert assessment, stabilisation, and management of the full spectrum of paediatric emergencies
- Contributing to short-stay observation pathways to reduce admissions and improve patient flow
- Participating in Major Trauma services and national paediatric emergency care delivery
- Leading and mentoring NCHDs, ANPs, and multidisciplinary colleagues
- Involvement in teaching, audit, research, and ongoing service transformation
CHI operates as a single, integrated national service across:
- CHI at Crumlin
- CHI at Temple Street
- CHI at Tallaght
- Urgent Care Centre at Connolly Hospital
- The service delivers care to 300,000+ children annually across 30+ specialties
- A new world class children's hospital (opening 2027)
- The future model includes a digitally enabled hospital with integrated care systems and single-room facilities

Salary & Benefits- €238K+ - €286K+ Consultant salary scale (2026 HSE Public Only Consultant Contract)

Suitable applicants may hold:
- UK CCT in Paediatrics with 2+ years' experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
- EU Specialist qualification recognised under EU Directive
- American Board certification in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
- Canadian Fellowship
- Australian or New Zealand Fellowship
Additionally:
- Must be eligible for Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council
- 3 years postgraduate experience in paediatric/emergency specialties, including at least 2 years in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
