Job Description
Consultant Role - Paediatric Emergency Medicine (CHI Dublin) The Role
  • Clinical leadership within the Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) service
  • Delivering care across Emergency Departments, Emergency Care Units, and Urgent Care Centres within CHI
  • Participating in consultant rotas, including evening, weekend, and on-call commitments
  • Supporting service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance
  • Providing expert assessment, stabilisation, and management of the full spectrum of paediatric emergencies
  • Contributing to short-stay observation pathways to reduce admissions and improve patient flow
  • Participating in Major Trauma services and national paediatric emergency care delivery
  • Leading and mentoring NCHDs, ANPs, and multidisciplinary colleagues
  • Involvement in teaching, audit, research, and ongoing service transformation

Eligibility

Suitable applicants may hold:

  • UK CCT in Paediatrics with 2+ years' experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
  • EU Specialist qualification recognised under EU Directive
  • American Board certification in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
  • Canadian Fellowship
  • Australian or New Zealand Fellowship

Additionally:

  • Must be eligible for Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council
  • 3 years postgraduate experience in paediatric/emergency specialties, including at least 2 years in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
