The Role:We are seeking enthusiastic, skilled, and committed climbing professionals to join our instructional team at Calshot Activities Centre. This full time position focuses on delivering climbing sessions to our popular youth climbing clubs and school groups. The role also encompasses key operational responsibilities within the climbing wall, including route setting and the completion of statutory off ground inspections, forming an integral part of the wider instructional remit.
In addition, the role provides support to wider centre operations, contributing flexibly to team requirements beyond core climbing delivery. You will inspire and develop the next generation of climbers, ensuring high quality instruction within a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. Your work will directly contribute to Calshot's strong reputation for delivering outstanding climbing experiences for young people.
What you'll do:- Deliver safe, engaging, and progressive climbing sessions for young climbers.
- Support the delivery of NICAS aligned development pathways across our youth climbing clubs.
- Maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer care at all times.
- Contribute to the wider climbing team, supporting continuous improvement and maintaining a positive learning environment.
- Undertake operational responsibilities within the climbing wall, including route setting and statutory off ground inspections.
- Provide flexible support to wider centre operations when required including teaching other out.
- Participate in duty manager shifts within a structured rota to ensure safe and effective centre operations outside standard hours.
We're looking for someone with a strong foundation in climbing instruction, ideally holding Climbing Wall Development Instructor (CWDI) training, with experience supporting youth climbing clubs and delivering NICAS sessions. You'll bring a genuine passion for climbing and youth development, alongside excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
It would be an advantage if you also have route setting experience, PPE inspection skills, or qualifications such as BMC Fundamentals or BMC Foundation Coach. Experience supporting climbers of varied abilities - including those working toward performance goals - is also desirable.
