We currently seek an Operational Technology Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Totnes. This full-time, permanent role offers a competitive salary of £37,450 to £44,940 per year plus excellent benefits.

About the role

As our OT Maintenance Engineer, you will repair and maintain critical remote plant and control systems, supporting safe and efficient service delivery. Your duties include planned maintenance, onsite analysis, diagnosis, and resolving complex problems promptly.

You will also have the opportunity to improve operational processes through small capital investment projects, using established governance procedures.

The technology base includes sensors, instrumentation, plant networks, PLCs, SCADA, process control, and telemetry.

What you'll be doing:
  • Performing planned and proactive maintenance on instrumentation and control systems to enhance process reliability and performance.
  • Responding swiftly to operational issues, analyzing and resolving problems onsite.
  • Participating in a 24/7 standby roster for out-of-hours reactive maintenance.
  • Collaborating with mechanical and electrical teams to prioritize and coordinate maintenance tasks.
  • Utilizing technical knowledge to recommend process improvements.
  • Assisting with root cause analysis of plant failures and performance issues.
  • Engaging with standards engineers to ensure compliance with legislation and standards.
  • Managing firmware/software updates following best practices.
  • Promoting a health and safety culture and complying with relevant legislation and policies.
What we are looking for:
  • At least 5 GCSEs including Mathematics, English, and Science or equivalent.
  • Relevant control engineering apprenticeship, qualification, or training.
  • Experience with process control and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC management, programming, and communication protocols, especially on Schneider platforms.
  • Calibration and maintenance skills for instrumentation.
  • Strong IT skills and a technical mindset.
  • Full UK driver's license and ability to travel using company vehicle.
  • Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC).
