About the roleYou'll help keep our nation moving every single day. The role involves overseeing the daily upkeep of the rail network, working outdoors with a small team, supporting essential maintenance to keep the railway running safely and smoothly for passengers and freight users.
Your role includes:
- Teamworking - Work closely with the team to deliver safe and efficient work delivery.
- Communication - Demonstrate good communication skills to work safely and effectively.
- Proactive planning - Be punctual, have the van and equipment ready and anticipate the team's needs.
- Working under pressure - Remain calm outdoors with trains passing close by in all conditions.
- Following rules and instructions - Understand and respect the rules and be confident to challenge unsafe situations.
- Willingness to learn - Consistently develop your skills and competencies relevant to your discipline.
- Experience as an arborist - Required for this position.
- Shifts - Operative roles involve a changing shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.
- Outdoor working - Be comfortable working in all weather conditions.
- Safe working - Subject to drug and alcohol testing, a medical assessment and BPSS pre employment checks, including hearing and eyesight examinations.
- Driving - Holding a valid category B driving licence to operate Network Rail vehicles.
- Commute - Must be within a 60 minute commute of the location.
