Operations Planning Specialist

Carlisle Up to £35,000 DOE On-site

We're supporting a well-established organisation in Carlisle in the search for an Operations Planning Specialist. This role is central to ensuring production activities are planned effectively, stock levels are well controlled, and customer demand is met efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Use internal planning tools and systems to create accurate and efficient production schedules that align with customer requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain work-in-progress and finished stock levels within your remit.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly internal material transfers to keep workflow consistent.
  • Ensure accurate data recording across production processes, promoting best practice.
  • Support the management of treatment and processing capacity across multiple operational areas.
  • Coordinate focus stock levels and highlight capacity or resource requirements.
  • Assist in developing forecasting models, master data accuracy and planning frameworks.
  • Help standardise planning processes, creating process flows and quality documentation.
  • Review forecasts against live orders daily and weekly to ensure planning teams have accurate figures.
  • Work closely with sales and customer service teams to enhance forecasting accuracy.
  • Develop medium and long-term capacity models for operational work centres.
  • Produce regular reporting on capacity-to-promise (CTP) performance.

About You

We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys problem-solving, analysis and structured planning. You'll ideally bring:

  • Strong IT skills, particularly across Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • The ability to influence outcomes and build strong working relationships.
  • A logical, detail-focused approach to planning and problem-solving.
  • Experience in planning, scheduling or operational coordination (beneficial but not essential).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (advantageous).

A full UK driving licence is required.
