What you'll do

As an Operations Manager, you'll deliver excellent execution across the store and embed consistent routines that deliver availability, waste and shrink. You'll review store processes to deliver great metrics and KRAs for availability, waste and shrink by embedding routine and process across the shop floor, adhering to contract base management and wage control whilst leading and coaching our managers and teams to deliver excellent store standards across Ambient and Fresh departments as well as George and General Merchandising in our large format stores. You lead with heart, building self-esteem by recognising effort, attitude, and growth, creating an environment where people feel valued, trusted, and motivated to step up. You listen with empathy, respond with care, and create space for open, respectful conversations on the shop floor and beyond. You're transparent in your decisions, clearly sharing the "why" and inviting your team to solve challenges together. You support your team by coaching through questions, encouraging ownership, and celebrating initiative. You believe in creating a culture of always serving with heart and pride, driving the stores selling agenda with healthy competition across the trading floor by bringing the "Asdaness" to work every day.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent execution across the store and embed routines to improve availability, waste and shrink.
• Review store processes to achieve metrics and KRAs for availability, waste and shrink; embed routines and processes across the shop floor.
• Lead and coach managers and teams to maintain store standards across Ambient, Fresh, George and General Merchandising in large format stores.
• Lead with empathy, recognise effort and growth, and foster an environment where people feel valued and motivated.
• Communicate clearly, share the rationale behind decisions, and involve the team in problem-solving.
• Coach through questions, encourage ownership, and celebrate initiative.
• Contribute to a culture of service with heart and pride and drive the stores selling agenda with healthy competition.

What qualities you'll need

• Execution and result-focused: strong drive to get things done right, with resilience and accountability for managers.
• Commercial awareness: understanding how availability, waste and shrink impact performance; able to lead shrink agenda and drive standards.
• POS execution: ensure POS best practice is followed across the store to deliver value messaging to customers.
• Coaching and Leadership: develop leadership teams, improve routines, and foster a culture focused on customer service with energy and pride.
• Organised and efficient: thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritise and delegate to land promotional activity on time.
• Collaborative: work across teams to ensure smooth operations and a seamless customer experience.
• Data-driven: use insights to drive operational improvements and maintain legal compliance for customers and colleagues.

What you'll bring

• Experience managing diverse teams in a large-format retail environment with energy and pace.
• Strong operational knowledge across food and non-food departments.
• Track record of improving availability, reducing waste, and managing shrink.
• Confidence in developing large teams and managing change through leadership and resilience.
• Experience managing ER cases and understanding HR policies and processes.
• Strong organisational skills and focus on customer service excellence.
