Salary: £40,100 - £50,100 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Location: This is an office-based role in the middle of Southampton, though may include a small amount of travelling in the area.
Job IntroBBC Southampton is the home of regional TV news for central Southern England, the South regional production team of the BBC News website, and local radio station BBC Radio Solent, which serves audiences in Hampshire, Dorset, and the Isle of Wight.
The operation is based in the centre of Southampton and is well served by road, rail and bus services. We're looking to appoint an Operations Engineer on a continuing contract as part of the technical support team.
Main responsibilitiesAs a member of the team, you will be working on shift with other engineers. Shifts currently run from 9.30am to 7.30pm, four days a week. You will be joining a small and multi-skilled engineering team working across a range of engineering duties and technologies, supporting broadcast TV, broadcast radio, and BBC news internet content. The role reports to the Operations Engineering Team Leader.
Engineers are expected to react to system failures in an appropriate manner and to be able to prioritise their response according to transmission and business criticality. Maintenance and repair is largely at a systems level, but repair of equipment down to component level is still sometimes necessary.
Are you the right candidate?- Applicants should be experienced broadcast engineers, and have the following core skills:
- Experience of supporting complex Broadcast and Production systems in a multi-platform environment.
- Experience of using a range of diagnostic and monitoring tools
- Experience of troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in complex systems.
- Ability to prioritise tasks according to service impact, and to work calmly under pressure.
- Relevant engineering qualifications or practical experience.
- Good understanding of IT systems
