Operational Support Officer

Operational Support Officers play a critical role, providing excellent customer service and administrative support to court and tribunal users, judiciary and management.
The role involves working as part of a team to meet operational, performance and service standards across the area of work. It requires adaptability, multitasking and effective execution of duties both office based and in court.
Responsibilities- Prepare papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings, including processing and handling sensitive information and accurately recording outcomes.
- Create and update digital records, ensuring accuracy of information required on a court file.
- Communicate with the public, judiciary, other court and tribunal users and representatives of other agencies and organisations.
- Support the smooth running of court proceedings, prepare court/hearing rooms and ensure courts run efficiently.
- Serve as the first point of contact for court users, including members of the public, vulnerable witnesses and their legal representatives.
- Experience in a customer facing, service led environment.
- Strong digital and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills in person, over the telephone, digitally and in written form.
- Resilience and empathy to handle sensitive information and situations.
- Team player capable of working collaboratively and flexibly to deliver business objectives.
- Full time, standard 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday). Part time, flexible and job sharing arrangements may be considered in accordance with the MoJ's Flexible Working policy.
- Minimum of 30 hours per week over four days for part time arrangements.
- Base location: Shrewsbury Crown Court, Preston Street, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY2 5NX.
- Hybrid working options available where business need allows; at least 60 % of time in an office required.
- Annual leave: 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 days after five years' service.
- Option to buy or sell up to three leave days per year.
