The Role
As an Ocean/Air Freight Operator, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing international shipments across both ocean and air freight. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods, delivering excellent customer service, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage ocean freight shipments (imports and exports), ensuring timely and efficient collection and delivery
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and carriers to arrange shipping schedules, negotiate rates, and manage documentation
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to queries, resolving issues, and building strong client relationships
- Prepare and process shipping and customs documentation accurately
- Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and internal trade compliance policies
- Track and monitor shipments, providing regular updates to customers and stakeholders
- Adapt to changing priorities and manage unforeseen challenges effectively
- Manage multiple shipments simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience within ocean freight operations, including imports and exports
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures, international shipping regulations, and documentation
- Ability to build effective working relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues
- Strong communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach
- Proactive, organised, and results-driven mindset
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Experience using CargoWise and/or ASM Sequoia systems
