Job Description

Genesis Healthcare provides a range of respite, residential and support services to children and adults with intellectual disabilities in a homely and comfortable community setting.   • Position: Occupational Therapist
  • Reporting to: Director of Services
  • Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Working Week: 40 hours per week (7-hour standard working day)
  • Location: Midland Counties (Offaly, Kildare, Laois, Westmeath)
  • Salary Scale: €50,000 - €60,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the Occupational Therapy (OT) service and establish best practice standards.
  • Monitor and report KPIs including waiting lists, caseloads, and MDT input.
  • Maintain professional standards based on evidence-based practice.
  • Deliver an ethics-driven OT service.
  • Provide high-quality services supporting service users' health and wellbeing.
  • Maximize service users' active involvement in the development of their care pathway.
  • Review OT caseload management to ensure safe and efficient outcomes.
  • Stay updated with new developments, skills, and technologies.
  • Develop, audit, and review policies and procedures in response to service needs.
  • Coordinate training and education for staff involved in OT service delivery.
  • Maintain, review, and report on an OT risk register.
  • Build strong relationships with external statutory and professional bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external requirements affecting Genesis Healthcare.
  • Third-level qualification and CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Minimum of two years full-time post-qualification clinical experience.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a car.
  • Previous health service experience, ideally in the intellectual disability sector.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Working knowledge of HIQA Standards as applied to ID services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in service evaluation and planning.
  • Ability to deliver results through effective collaboration in a complex environment.
  • Garda Vetting / Police Clearance required.
