Observability Architect

We are seeking an Observability Architect to lead the design and delivery of Trust wide monitoring and observability capabilities across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments. This role is key to ensuring the safety, performance and reliability of Trust digital systems that support patient care.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead the design and governance of Trust wide observability architecture across on-premise, cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Develop and maintain architectural standards for telemetry collection, correlation, retention and visualisation.
  • Support clinical safety by ensuring observability contributes to safer, more reliable patient critical systems.
  • Work collaboratively with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity, clinical safety and service management teams.
  • Oversee the onboarding of new technical systems and equipment into observability and alerting platforms.
  • Administer, maintain and enhance the Trust's monitoring and availability tools, ensuring high service reliability.
  • Provide expert input for major incidents, post incident reviews and analytical reporting.
  • Contribute to digital strategy, governance and infrastructure assurance processes.

Responsibilities

You will develop and govern the Trust's observability strategy, covering metrics, logs, tracing, alerting and dashboards. Working with infrastructure, application, cybersecurity and clinical safety teams, you will help embed proactive monitoring and support incident response, service resilience and continual improvement.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience plus additional specialist knowledge and expertise in IM&T, reporting and monitoring
  • Experience working within the NHS or wider public sector
  • Knowledge of electronic patient record (EPR) systems and healthcare integrations.
  • Awareness of clinical safety standards and healthcare digital regulations
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. cloud architecture, observability platforms)
Experience
  • Extensive and strong end to end troubleshooting skills for system networks and applications
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Groovy, or Python
  • Working knowledge and expertise of Windows server iterations installation and administration
