Job Description
Obesity Health Alliance - Policy and Advocacy Lead (2 year contract, funding secured) Job Introduction

Help shape the future of public health policy: become the Policy and Advocacy Lead at the Obesity Health Alliance

Diet-related ill health is a key issue on the political and media agenda, and our high obesity rates are at the heart of the matter - with bold, effective government action needed to tackle our unhealthy food system.

The Obesity Health Alliance (OHA) is a coalition of leading health organisations - including Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and the medical royal colleges - hosted by Diabetes UK. Together, we work to influence government on healthy weight policy on both prevention and treatment. Our coalition has already played a key role in landmark wins such as the soft drinks industry levy, tougher restrictions on junk food advertising, and curbs on fast food outlets near schools.

We're now looking for an experienced, creative and passionate Policy and Advocacy Lead to take the Alliance into its next impactful chapter. This is a high-profile and rewarding policy role, working alongside a skilled, committed team and a broad coalition of experts. This is the time to develop detailed policy work - and to have the opportunity to drive real, lasting change in the health of the UK population.

The OHA Director welcomes an informal, confidential, discussion prior to the anonymous application process.

For further information about the role please refer to the job description at the end of the page.

We have a friendly and inclusive working environment here at Diabetes UK and are proud of our hybrid approach which allows great flexibility in the way that we work. This means that you can balance your working time between home and the office, subject to the needs of your role.
