Esland Bedford School is an independent SEMH special school for up to 50 children aged 8-18.
The school provides education to day pupils, and via our unique Turning the Curve provision, to young people who have been disengaged from education for significant periods of time.
We aim to maintain a nurturing and accepting environment for young people who have not had their needs met in other settings. We also aim to provide a work/life balance for staff that is not available in larger schools.
Esland Bedford School is seeking a Nurture Teacher to support the opening of a third classroom in our recently opened, stand alone KS2/3 Nurture provision.
About the roleThe role entails planning and delivery of a targeted curriculum for some of our most vulnerable pupils who are not yet ready to access our secondary curriculum.
The role would be suitable for teachers with experience delivering a topic based curriculum and working with pupils who have Anxiety, Emotionally Based School Avoidance, ASD and/or ADHD.
Qualified Teacher Status is essential; however, exceptions may be made for candidates who demonstrate significant experience and impact in a school or nursery setting and who can access a school based qualification pathway in the future (the advertised pay rate will likely not apply if QTS is not held).

Requirements for a SEN Teacher- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
- An understanding of SEND, particularly SEMH
- Demonstrable and extensive experience and impact in a school or nursery setting
- Strong inclusive teaching and behaviour support strategies
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
