NR248215 - Salaried General Practitioner - Walk In Service (GMED)

Role Overview

The Walk In Service, hosted by the Out of Hours Primary Care (GMED) team, is recruiting a Salaried GP to join our dynamic and responsive service. Walk in services provide same day access to urgent primary care without the need for a booked appointment and form part of a major national pilot programme funded by the Scottish Government. This programme is helping to shape future models of urgent and unscheduled care across Scotland.

Responsibilities

As a Salaried GP within the Walk In Centre, you will provide a full range of general medical services including urgent assessment, diagnosis, treatment and onward referral. You will work closely with the Clinical Lead, Service Manager and wider multidisciplinary team to ensure high quality, safe, person centred care. You will also play an active role in the continuing development of the service.

Qualifications and Requirements

Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence must be in place prior to starting in post). The role is available in 1.3 WTE posts, full time, part time or flexible working arrangements may be considered. A Bank position is also available within the Walk In Centre. Flexibility is essential, as the role includes evening and weekend working and GPs are expected to contribute to cover arrangements for colleague annual or study leave.

Contract and Compensation

Contract: Fixed term for 12 months. Bank opportunities also available.

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week. Flexible working and part time will be considered.

Salary: £77,160 - £115,167 per annum / pro rata (with enhanced pay for evening and weekend work).

Location: The post is based within Aberdeen Health Village. Enhanced pay rates apply for agreed evening and weekend sessions.

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro rata, with a corresponding increase in the hourly rate to keep pay unaffected.
