TheNational Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) is working to digitisepathology services across the country, whilst harnessing the associated datafor research into improving patient care. NPICs strategic vision includeshosting a national research platform for digital pathology data, to supportcutting edge research in the NHS and beyond.

ThisNPIC Research Delivery Manger role will play a key role in the realisation ofthis vision, and will be responsible for various projects, activities andexemplars that utilise this exciting new resource. The role requiresexcellent project management skills, as well as exceptional communicationskills to facilitate complex collaboration activities with a wide range ofstakeholders.

Main duties of the job AsNPICs Research Delivery Manger, you will be expected to lead and support thesuccessful completion of deliverables across a diverse range of complexprojects involving healthcare, academic and industrial professionals. Therole will rely on developing effective working relationships withstakeholders and suppliers, spanning a range of challenging multidisciplinaryfields, including AI research, data science and systems development.

Asuccessful candidate will have significant experience with digital pathologyand be comfortable working under pressure to deliver complex projects withchanging demands on the service. The candidate should have a strong workingknowledge of data access procedures within an acute NHS Trust setting,adhering to information governance policies. A proven track record ofdelivering research projects in a healthcare setting is essential, and asolid understanding of the technical aspects of large-scale digital deploymentsis advantageous.

Job responsibilities Thepost of Delivery Manager supports the operational management and governanceof the National Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) programme working withthe NPIC Portfolio Delivery Manager.

TheNational Pathology Imaging Co-operative (NPIC) programme, a £100m+ initiativesupported by central funding from NHS England, Innovate UK and the Office forLife Sciences. NPIC has the ambition to provide a national platform tosupport pathology services.

Thisrole will:

Organise and undertakemultidisciplinary research and development.

Provide day-to-day high leveloperational management to the NPIC team.

Make a significant contribution tothe management team, taking a lead on specific initiatives as designated bysenior management, for example, business development activities and strategicplanning.

Provide guidance and mentorship toProject Managers, acting as a resource for resolving challenges and improvingoverall project management practices.

Take the lead in engaging withhigh-level stakeholders, presenting project outcomes, and negotiatingpriorities or resources.

Have autonomy in decision-making,particularly regarding scope changes, resource allocation, and riskmanagement.

Drive innovation by identifying andimplementing process improvements, ensuring consistency, and introducing bestpractices.

Oversee clusters of relatedprojects or serve as a program manager for a portfolio, providingcoordination across teams.

Handle high-risk, high-complexityprojects with broad organisational impact.

Represent the team incross-departmental meetings, steering committees, or external partnerships.

Contribute to the professionalgrowth of the junior Project Management team by creating training programs ordevelopment opportunities.

Take ownership of reporting onbroader program outcomes, organisational metrics, and lessons learned frommultiple projects.

Seek opportunities for reputationalenhancement with Industry and drive new business opportunities andpartnerships

Manage a number of academicinterdisciplinary clinical research projects, providing project manager levelsupport, leading the research delivery team and research fellows assigned tothe projects to ensure on-time, on-budget performance.

Provide advisory service onpractical aspects of research design to potential sponsors and Trustdepartments.

Be an initial and main contact forall sponsors of research programmes.

Coordinate the development andreview of study protocols and associated study documentation.

Work collaboratively with the LeedsClinical Trials Research Unit and other academic departments to ensureeffective cross discipline working in the delivery of academic research

Ensure robust communication withthe joint Sponsors office of LTHT/UoL

Full line managementresponsibilities of non- clinical research delivery staff

Provide programmes of training andeducation to professional and non-professional groups of staff within scopeof own professional practice

Specification, sourcing and costingof research studies and departmental research projects.

Specification, sourcing and costingof research equipment and clinical resources.

Frequent collation and input ofclinical trial related data into electronic systems

Work closely with finance and NPICoperations team to understand and actively manage financial resources,identifying threats and escalating concerns appropriately

Oversee and be accountable for theprocesses and pathways supporting recruitment of research participants intostudies

Promote and increase awareness ofNPIC both internally within the organisation and externally, as a centre ofexcellence and promote our reputation for high quality clinical researchactivity

Provide advisory service onresearch study designs to potential sponsors and trust departments

Exercise initiative, manage andprioritise own workload

Undertake Continuing ProfessionalDevelopment.

4. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OFRESPONSIBILITY

Line management responsibility ofNHS staff.

Liaise and/or meet with thepotential collaborators to obtain a full briefing on the background of thestudy, study objectives/design, timescale, reporting /data acquisitionrequirements for the portfolio of the work.

Prepare costings and budgetreviews for projects

Prepare and review the NPIC SOPs,working closely with the NPIC management team to ensure full qualityassurance and quality standards are consistently met.

Coordinate the Preparation and review of study protocols incollaboration with the clinical investigator, relevant scientists and keynursing leads to review feasibility and ensure relevant pathways areaddressed to ensure delivery.

Prepare and review protocolassociated study documentation including undertaking a risk assessment andstudy intensity review as per guidelines

Prepare study submissions andsubmit required reports to Regulatory and Research Ethics Committee asappropriate

Liaise closely with PrincipalInvestigator, research teams to ensure that the study is executed accordingto the protocol and complies with GCP. Ensure that all protocol violationsand deviations or other unscheduled study events are appropriately reportedand documented through the centralised QA process.

Participate fully in Operationalmeetings, including preparation of presentation materials and/or verbalfeedback reporting.

Prepare and draft content relevantto NPIC activity for inclusion in annual reports and other forums asrequested by senior management

Prepare data for analysis

Expert leadership:

Managerialoversight for NPIC staff and you will work flexibly across the programme andhave day-to-day responsibility for resource utilisation to support a wide range of NPIC research activity.

Workingclosely with central R&I finance you will be responsible for ensuringaccurate costing of study protocols, controlling budgets and project relatedexpenditure.

Informatics:
