Job Description:

The Non-Domestic BER Assessor will be responsible for carrying out Building Energy Rating (BER) assessments on commercial and other non-domestic buildings in accordance with SEAI guidelines and the DEAP/NES calculation methodologies. The role involves site visits, data collection, and the production of BER certificates and advisory reports to support regulatory compliance and energy efficiency improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct energy assessments of non-domestic buildings in line with the SEAI Non-Domestic BER framework.

  • Perform detailed on-site surveys to collect data on building fabric, HVAC systems, lighting, and renewable technologies.

  • Use SEAI-approved software tools (eg, NEAP/iSBEM) to calculate energy performance and generate BER certificates.

  • Produce and submit BER certificates and advisory reports to the SEAI National BER Register.

  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, SEAI QA standards, and health & safety regulations.

  • Liaise with clients, design teams, and building owners to explain results and advise on improvements.

  • Keep up-to-date with changes in energy assessment methodologies, building regulations, and sustainable technologies.

  • Participate in quality assurance audits and address any issues raised by SEAI.


Qualifications & Experience:

Essential:

  • Registered Non-Domestic BER Assessor with SEAI (valid registration number required).

  • Completed SEAI-approved Non-Domestic BER Assessor training.

  • Strong working knowledge of iSBEM/NEAP software.

  • Experience conducting non-domestic energy assessments across a range of building types.

  • Knowledge of Irish Building Regulations (Part L), energy efficiency standards, and renewable technologies.

  • Full driving licence and access to own vehicle (for site visits).

Desirable:

  • Degree or diploma in Building Services, Energy Engineering, Architecture, Construction, or related discipline.

  • Experience working within energy consultancy, M&E design, or sustainability roles.

  • Familiarity with other energy performance tools (eg, PHPP, dynamic simulation).


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and building layouts.

  • Good time management and ability to work independently.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

  • Commitment to sustainability and energy performance improvement.
