Neurology Medical Secretarial

The staff member will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to the Neurology service. Working closely with the Neurology Improvement Manager and wider team, the role involves providing a full confidential secretarial service to the Neurology consultants and wider team. The postholder must be highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently, with excellent computer literacy (including Microsoft Office and relevant databases) and strong communication skills. A flexible approach and the ability to prioritise workload effectively are essential to succeed in this role.
Main duties of the job- To provide a full confidential secretarial service to the Neurology service.
- Carry out duties as defined by the Business Support Manager
- Provide support as required to Managers and Staff with Management of waiting lists and clinic utilisation
- Excellent computer literacy is essential for the role, which will include the use of Microsoft Office packages and relevant databases.
- Highly organised, self-motivated, have a flexible approach to work and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- To work independently managing own workload in line with defined policies and procedures.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Typing of correspondence, clinic letters and discharge summaries accurately in a timely manner to meet departmental standards, thus requiring a high level of keyboard skills & knowledge of medical terminology.Audio/copy typing any other correspondence as required.
Providing secretarial support to the Consultant and extended team, along with provision of general support throughout the department as and when required.
Ensuring urgent correspondence and investigations are actioned appropriately.
Exercising tact & judgement when dealing with enquiries.
Person Specification Qualifications- O levels or equivalent
- Vocational Level 3 or equivalent
- RSA Level 111
- Studying towards medical secretarial Qualification
- Previous Experience of NHS
- Previous Experience of WPAS
- Experience of Working as a Medical Secretary
