Job Description
Network Engineer - 12 Months Contract - Remote

Remote with some adhoc travel, could include Bracknell


Rate: £58.96/hr - 36-hour week - inside IR35 via umbrella company


Responsibilities
  • Hands-on troubleshooting and configuration of large multinational networks using diverse technologies and vendors, including Cisco IOS and Meraki dashboard.
  • Configure and troubleshoot WLAN technologies.
  • Work with Cisco NSO, SAE, UCS, ISE, DUO, VMware, and IOS.
  • Collect packet captures and analyze network protocols and functions such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, NAT, DNS, DHCP, SDWAN, IPAM, SDN, ACL, Spanning Tree, VLAN, OSI Model, NetFlow, TACACS.
  • Use NMS tools (Nagios, SevOne, SolarWinds, etc.) for diagnosing and triaging issues.
  • Understand syslogs, SNMP traps, device polling, and management functions.
  • Apply ITIL principles in event, incident, problem, and change management.
  • Participate in network implementation and refresh projects.
Role Description

Responsible for maintaining the operational health of the network, troubleshooting issues, engaging with service providers, coordinating with stakeholders, and supporting network changes.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide incident triage, analysis, and resolution.
  • Manage incidents end-to-end, escalating as needed.
  • Act as Major Incident Manager when required.
  • Provide updates during incidents.
  • Participate in global on-call rotations, including weekends.
  • Use network management systems for issue diagnosis.
  • Collect packet captures for diagnosis.
  • Coordinate with local contacts and service providers to resolve connectivity and hardware issues.
  • Identify and act on opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate network capacity and performance, recommending design changes.
  • Maintain CMDB and Knowledge Base updates.
  • Handle DNS/DHCP requests and implement network changes as per design specifications.
