Location: Southampton (mostly onsite)

Duration: 6 month contract

Role details;
Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with expertise in Network Algorithms to join their team in Southampton on a contractual basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out research into next-generation airborne mesh networks.
• Analyse and evaluate different network protocols and routing algorithms.
• Design meaningful experiments and interpret their results to improve network designs.
• Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and partners to achieve project goals.
• Specify networking simulations using third-party tools or proprietary simulation environments.
• Provide input on standardisation proposals based on simulation analysis.

Job Requirements:

• Strong understanding of networking protocols, their functions, and the alternatives.
• Experience in designing and interpreting network simulations.
• Proficiency in communicating complex ideas to varied audiences.
• Experience with research in novel networking algorithms.
• Familiarity with commonly used network simulation tools.
• Knowledge of software engineering techniques.
• Understanding of wireless communications systems.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
