.NET GIS Developer

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Freelance GIS Application Developer for one of our industrial clients based in Ghent. The client maintains several critical legacy systems supporting operational workflows. This role requires a hands-on developer with strong skills in .NET, WPF, and Azure, who can maintain and extend existing applications with minimal ramp-up time. Any experience with GIS technologies is a significant bonus.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain, support, and enhance legacy applications built using VB.NET and WinForms
• Analyze and debug production issues, propose and implement solutions
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical updates
• Write clean, maintainable code in .NET environments
• Ensure integration with newer systems where necessary
• Optionally contribute to GIS-related components or integrations

Key Requirements:

• Solid experience with C#, .NET Framework, and Azure
• Experience working with and supporting legacy applications
• Familiarity with SQL Server or similar databases
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Bonus: Experience or familiarity with GIS tools or spatial data handling
• Dutch speaking is mandatory
• Willing and able to be onsite in Ghent 2 days per week
