Neighbourhood Engagement & Delivery Officer (Libraries)

Working Hours and Contract Type: 4 Full Time (35 hours per week), Permanent, 1 Part Time (17.5 hours per week), Permanent.
Work Pattern: Staff work on a rota basis according to service need. Staff will be required to work 5 days out of 7, to include a Saturday or Sunday each week (Sundays from September onwards).
Location: Area based staff will work at all libraries across each area, and from time to time may work at any library across the city according to service need. Central Library staff will be based in Central Library, but may sometimes need to work citywide according to service need.
Additional Payments: 6.7% Flexibility Payment (Full-Time roles only) & Casual Car User Allowance.
About The CandidateThe candidate will have a good understanding of the way that Manchester libraries operate - our ethos, culture and our high expectations of customer service. You will need experience and understanding of working in public libraries, with excellent customer service skills, experience of ICT and digital delivery, and the ability to positively manage and motivate staff. Flexibility is required - you will work across a number of libraries, and possibly in other parts of the city as the service requires. You must be able to work unsocial hours, including weekends and evenings to meet the needs of the service. Passion for the role that libraries play at the heart of communities is desirable.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the staff who operate the libraries, the library buildings, and all the services delivered from there.
- Develop and deliver activities and events in libraries and across the area.
- Work with a range of agencies and partners such as schools and community groups.
- Oversee the provision of library services, ensuring high quality customer service.
- Coordinate and support staff across multiple libraries as required.
- Experience working in public libraries or in a customer service role.
- Strong understanding of ICT and digital delivery.
- Experience managing and motivating staff.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexibly, including unsocial hours, weekends, and evenings.
- Recognition of Manchester City Council diversity policy (desired).
