MS Dynamics 365 Business Central IT Application Specialist.

Assignment description

For our client we are looking for an Experienced IT Application Specialist (MS Dynamics 365 Business Central) based in either Almere or Enschede.

The role

Reporting to the ERP Applications Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the organization's ERP landscape. This position ensures that the Business Central environment remains consistent with the approved business templates, supports end-users with functional system issues, coordinates system updates, and develops new functionality to meet evolving business needs. The application specialist works within a multidisciplinary team to ensure that the platform efficiently supports standardized business processes.

Key responsibilities:

• Safeguarding the standard Business Central template and ensuring compliance with company-wide process standards.
• Providing functional support to users by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to daily system usage.
• Coordinating and supporting system upgrades, hotfix deployments, and implementation of new releases.
• Gathering business requirements and translating them into functional specifications for new functionality or improvements.
• Configuring, testing, and implementing enhancements or extensions, where needed, in collaboration with (external) technical consultants.
• Conducting user acceptance testing (UAT) and providing training sessions to ensure user adoption.
• Creating and maintaining documentation (process guides, configuration records, change logs) to support template governance.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams and key users to continuously improve system use and user experience.
• Keeping well informed about Microsoft updates, best practices, and new features relevant to Business Central.

Skills Required:

• Up-to-date knowledge of ERP MS Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• 3+ years of work experience as a Functional Consultant or Application Specialist in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes and convert them into system solutions.
• Familiarity with Power Platform integrations (eg, Power BI, Power Automate) is a plus.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Analytical skills. Structured problem-solver.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on process consistency.
• Team-player, comfortable working in an international environment

Location: Almere or Enschede, Netherlands (hybrid, 2-3 days on-site) with 2-3 days per week remote work possible, candidates must already be based in the Netherlands

Allocation: 100%

End date: 6-month initial contract plus possibility of permanent position after
