Job Description
Overview

This job involves driving the MCU to dedicated areas where we administer chemotherapy at home, alongside the charity Hope for Tomorrow. We travel to different areas around Lincolnshire, Louth, Skegness, and Spalding at present.

To ensure all legal and Trust requirements with regards to the use and driving of such vehicles are adhered to at all times, including maintaining vehicle mileage records and daily defect reports as necessary.

Driving Requirements
  • Driver CPC Qualification
  • The MCU driver must be over 25 years of age and have a minimum of 2 years relevant driving experience (insurance stipulation)
Main Duties
  • Driving to designated areas
  • Conducting maintenance checks
  • Supporting nurses and patients with refreshments and blood test collection
  • Fetching treatment and returning to hospital
  • Supporting the chemo suite when two drivers are on duty
  • Maintaining stock levels on the bus
  • Keeping up with required training for the role
Job Responsibilities

Attend meetings, briefings and training sessions as required; wear the uniform issued for driving staff and adhere to current uniform/dress codes; undertake routine cleaning duties within the Department, including vehicles and storage areas; promote the highest standards of customer care with a professional, welcoming and friendly atmosphere; assist in new staff induction training by on the job training.

Qualifications
  • Full Great Britain or valid EC/EEA driving licence (category C entitlement with no more than 3 penalty endorsement points for minor motoring offences)
  • Demonstrated literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to complete paperwork related to delivery and collections and comprehension skills sufficient to read and understand written instructions
  • Driver CPC Qualification
  • Above 25 years of age with minimum 2 years relevant driving experience (insurance stipulation)
  • Demonstrated understanding of moving and handling techniques
  • Health and Safety qualifications/training
  • NVQ Level 2 or above in Customer Care
Experience
  • Previous experience in a customer based organisation
  • Minimum 2 years driving experience in the United Kingdom
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Previous vocational driving experience in a busy environment
  • Local road knowledge
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Good knowledge and strong interest in driving and vehicle related issues
  • Initiative to resolve problems and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • High standard of interpersonal skills
  • Positive approach to team working
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Basic understanding of road transport law and relevant legislation (vehicle construction and use regulations, corporate manslaughter act, carriage of dangerous goods, health & safety law, etc.)
