Microsoft Purview Engineer

Scope of Work

• Roll out Microsoft Purview structured data governance across Microsoft Fabric environments, covering Lakehouses, Warehouses and OneLake.
• Establish Purview Data Map scanning and registration for Fabric data assets, building and maintaining an accurate and well-governed asset inventory.
• Design and enforce data classification frameworks and sensitivity labels within Purview, applied to structured data assets sitting within Fabric.
• Develop and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries and metadata standards within Purview at scale including bulk upload approaches for metadata population in line with client governance frameworks.
• Stand up Purview scanning and cataloguing of SaaS data sources feeding into Fabric, with Salesforce as the first priority source system.
• Enable data lineage tracking across Fabric pipelines and data flows, surfaced and managed through Purview.
• Define and configure Purview data domains, collections and access policies aligned to client organisational structures and stewardship models.
• Work directly with client stakeholders to gather requirements, lead working sessions and present governance outcomes.
• Operate as an Embedded member of the delivery team, producing governance artefacts and client documentation throughout the engagement.

Requirements

Essential

• 4+ years delivering structured data governance with Microsoft Purview as the primary governance tool
• Proven track record integrating Purview governance within Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, OneLake)
• Practical experience across Purview Data Map, Data Catalog, data classification and sensitivity labels in a Fabric context
• Clear understanding of Fabric's data domain model and how it maps to Purview collections and governance structures
• Experience enabling data lineage tracking across Fabric data flows through Purview
• Strong grounding in core data governance principles including stewardship, metadata management, lineage and data quality
• Experience working within financial services or insurance
• Comfortable engaging and presenting to senior client stakeholders
• Experience handling metadata at scale within Purview, including bulk upload and population of data dictionaries and glossaries

Desirable

• Microsoft certifications relevant to Fabric and Purview (eg DP-600, SC-400)
• Experience setting up Purview scanning for Salesforce as a data source
• Exposure to broader Fabric capabilities including Data Factory pipelines and Real Time Intelligence
• Prior background in a consultancy or professional services environment
