Job Description

Job Title: Mess Centre Manager

Location: Larkhill Garrison

Working Hours: 5 out of 7 days, primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. Standard shift: 08:00 - 16:30 (discussable during interview).

Salary: £33,538.08 per annum

We are seeking a proactive and dedicated individual for the role of Mess Centre Manager at Larkhill Garrison. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong leadership and organizational skills to oversee daily operations of the Mess, ensuring high standards of service for members and residents.

What You'll Do:
  1. Supervise and manage daily Mess activities to ensure smooth service delivery.
  2. Collaborate with the catering team on functions, including planning, menu creation, and costing.
  3. Maintain service standards as per the Schedule of Requirements (SOR) and quantity tables.
  4. Build and sustain relationships with PMC/RSM and the mess committee, promoting Sodexo's values.
  5. Plan and oversee all services within the operational area for efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. Monitor and improve service standards according to SLAs, KPIs, and contractual terms.
  7. Contribute to service growth, meeting client and commercial expectations while managing budgets.
  8. Implement principles of Collaborative Business Relationships (BS11000) aligned with Sodexo's vision and values.
  9. Manage and develop the team of direct reports, ensuring engagement and productivity.
  10. Ensure all practices comply with Sodexo policies, health and safety, and food safety legislation.
What You Bring:
  • Management experience within the soft FM service industry.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, including HR competencies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of health & safety and food safety standards.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and work proactively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Attention to detail and adherence to standards.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Experience working in a military environment is preferred.
  • Previous managerial experience in a similar role.
  • Health and Safety qualification equivalent to IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Technical skills in contract catering, hospitality, retail, and cleaning.
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships and lead teams effectively.
