Mental Health Practitioner - Supporting Students in Higher Education

Location: London

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days on campus, 2 days remote)

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30pm

About the Role

As a Mental Health Practitioner within QA Higher Education, you'll play a vital role in supporting students' wellbeing and success. Working closely with welfare, disability, and student relations teams, you'll deliver a range of services including:

  • Individual and group interventions to support mental health and wellbeing
  • Managing a caseload of students with complex needs
  • Collaborating with internal and external services to ensure timely, effective support
  • Creating psycho-educational resources and promoting wellbeing activities throughout the academic year

You'll also assist the Clinical Lead in maintaining a safe, ethical, and proactive wellbeing service-planning events and interventions that make a real impact.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver focused therapeutic interventions in person and remotely
  • Provide urgent triage and risk management for students in crisis
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and signpost to appropriate services
  • Build strong partnerships with GPs, mental health services, and social care providers
  • Support students through key transitions such as pre-entry, placements, and suspensions
What We're Looking For
  • Experience supporting clients with complex mental health needs
  • Skilled in delivering evidence-based interventions
  • Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and SEND Code of Practice
  • Professional registration (NMC or HCPC) - desirable
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine passion for student wellbeing
