Meet & Greet Volunteer

Would you like to join a centre of excellence in rural and remote healthcare?

We are looking for new Meet & Greet Volunteers to join our team in Carlisle!

Our Meet & Greet Volunteers are based at the entrance to the Hospital to help visitors, patients and relatives feel welcome and help them navigate the hospital. They answer questions, have a chat or carry belongings up to patients on wards that are closed to visitors.

To be a volunteer

You must be over 18 years of age and living within the local Cumberland area.

This might be the role for you if

• You have the ability to communicate with all groups of people
• Friendly, caring and approachable personality
• Helpful, patient and accommodating manner
• Sensitive, compassionate and tactful nature
• Able to work on your own or as part of a team
• Can provide one morning or afternoon per week

Main duties of the job

• Carry bags of clothing/items to the identified ward
• Carry bags of dirty clothing from the identified ward to the relative
• Communicate with relatives, ward staff, security staff and Mitie staff
• Offer advice and directions
• Accompany patients and visitors to wards or departments
• Build rapport with patients and visitors
• Locate wheelchairs if required
• Direct patients and staff to hand sanitizers and provide masks as needed

Legal and Background Check Requirements

A Standard DBS check will be required for this volunteering post. The DBS check is free of charge for volunteers.
