Medical Receptionist

Broomfield Park Medical Centre have an amazing opportunity for a new role to help provide extra support within the reception team.
We operate two shift patterns: 07:45 am - 13:15 pm or 13:00 pm - 18:30 pm. You will be expected to be available for a variety of these shifts, and the exact days will be discussed during the interview.
We are recruiting for several receptionist positions, including a fixed term contract until 31/03/2027.
Main Duties- Receive, assist, and signpost patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient, and effective way for the best possible outcome for the patient.
- Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive, friendly image to patients and other visitors, in person or via the telephone.
- Accurately record information on patients' records within the clinical system.
- Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system.
- Process personal, telephone, and e requests for appointments.
- Assist with total triage administration.
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers' requests appropriately.
- Signpost patients to the correct service.
- Initiate contact with and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies.
- Photocopy documentation as required.
- Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information.
- Input data into patients' healthcare records as necessary.
- Direct requests for information, e.g., DSAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms to the administrative team.
- Manage all queries efficiently.
- Carry out system searches as requested.
- Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks.
- Undertake a broad spectrum of administrative duties commensurate with the role.
- Be an integral part of the general practice team.
- Act as a chaperone as required.
- Adhere to current legislation and practice policies on safeguarding adults and children.
- Support in the delivery of enhanced services and other service requirements.
- Undertake mandatory training and induction programmes.
- Contribute to and embrace clinical governance.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.
- Attend a formal appraisal with a manager at least every 12 months.
- Action incoming emails and correspondence as necessary.
- Scan patient related documentation and attach scanned documents to patients' healthcare records.
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
- Support in the management of repeat prescriptions, ensuring they are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Support and participate in shared learning.
- Previous experience in an office or administrative role is preferred, particularly within a healthcare setting.
- Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail are essential for managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with patients and colleagues.
- Proficiency with office equipment and medical administration software is advantageous.
- A compassionate approach to patient care and a commitment to maintaining high service standards are crucial in this role.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
