Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to join our team at Benfield.
About the PracticeThe surgery serves around 10,000 patients.
Responsibilities- Ensure patients are received in a courteous, reassuring and non judgemental manner.
- Ensure patients needing urgent attention are seen in a logical and non disruptive manner.
- Explain practice arrangements to new patients and those seeking temporary help.
- Ensure correct procedures are carried out.
- Undertake a wide range of clerical tasks; have excellent keyboard skills and knowledge of word processing and data inputting.
- Work on own initiative and be the first point of contact for the building.
- Provide administrative and secretarial support to the practice.
- Work with minimum supervision within the parameters of this job description.
- Act as a team member of the multi disciplinary team.
- Open and lock the practice premises and maintain security in accordance with protocols.
- Offer patients an appointment booking service by phone and face to face and administer the booking system.
- Prepare repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice policies and protocols.
- Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
- Answer patient enquiries with the support of other staff as necessary.
- Undertake all tasks associated with day to day running of the computer system, including links with patient services.
- Keep the reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions.
- Advise patients of relevant charges, accept payments and issue receipts.
- Liaise with other receptionists in the organisation of clinics.
- Attend practice meetings.
- Clear and restock consulting rooms as required.
- Make tea/coffee and perform occasional errands as requested.
- Participate in training, audits and risk assessments as and when appropriate.
- Undertake all other administrative duties necessary to support the smooth running of the practice, as directed by the Assistant Practice Manager and Practice Manager.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff.
- Ensure duties are carried out to the highest possible standard and in accordance with any current quality initiatives.
- Experience working with SystmOne.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.
