They are currently hiring a Medical Physicist for a hospital-based role in Dublin .

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform systematic measurement, calibration, documentation, and quality assurance of all radioactive sources and radiation-producing equipment used in Radiation Oncology.
- Conduct acceptance testing, commissioning, and performance evaluation of treatment-related equipment, ensuring accurate calibration and safe clinical operation.
- Develop and maintain quality assurance programmes, including testing procedures, tolerance limits, and equipment maintenance schedules to ensure precise radiation treatment delivery.
- Coordinate periodic servicing, preventive maintenance, and compliance checks for radiation therapy equipment and treatment planning systems.
- Design, calculate, and manage radiation treatment plans, including dose distribution calculations, treatment data acquisition, and machine parameter settings for therapy delivery.
- Provide expert consultation to Radiation Oncologists on the physical, technical, and radiobiological aspects of radiation treatment and in-vivo dosimetry.
- Oversee the design, fabrication, and evaluation of treatment beam modifiers, immobilization devices, and other treatment aids used in patient care.
- Support research, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with Medical Physicists and Radiation Oncology teams on clinical and scientific projects.
- Assist in the implementation of new clinical practices, Medical Physics programmes, equipment selection, budgeting, policy development, and departmental operations in collaboration with the Chief Medical Physicist.
- Ensure compliance with environmental protection and radiation safety regulations, while also managing assigned leadership responsibilities, staff coordination, project oversight, and reporting requirements.
- Hold a PhD or MSc in Medical Physics or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Possess experience in 3-D conformal radiotherapy and treatment planning systems, with additional experience in radiosurgery and IMRT considered highly desirable.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge and practical experience in the calibration of linear accelerators and routine quality assurance procedures.
- Provide expert consultation and clinical advice throughout the patient treatment pathway based on current evidence-based practices.
- Maintain accurate and professional documentation of all clinical recommendations, treatment-related decisions, and patient care activities.
- Develop familiarity with departmental protocols and contribute to the creation, revision, and implementation of clinical protocols and procedures.
- Ensure clear, professional, and effective communication with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Work collaboratively with Radiation Oncology staff and other departmental personnel to support high-quality patient care and service delivery.
- Demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities in relation to radiation therapy practices.
- Maintain positive professional relationships while contributing to a supportive, efficient, and patient-focused working environment.
