Mechanical Technician

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair bulk explosives pumping equipment and associated mechanical systems used in underground mining operations.


• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities to maximise equipment reliability and availability.


• Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults, supporting operational continuity and minimising downtime.


• Assist in identifying and resolving electrical and PLC related issues where required, collaborating with specialist support teams as necessary.


• Support maintenance planning and execution activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.


• Participate in on call rotations and respond to maintenance call outs outside standard working hours when required.


• Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.


• Work collaboratively across site functions, supporting operational requirements beyond core trade responsibilities when needed.


• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, Environment and Security (SHES) standards, policies, and procedures.


• Align all activities with Orica's Charter Values, Purpose, and Strategy.

Requirements

• Relevant trade qualification, diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Maintenance or a related discipline.


• Experience working in industrial, mining, heavy equipment, maintenance, or similar environments.


• Experience maintaining pumps, hydraulic systems, rotating equipment, or similar mechanical systems.


• Previous underground mining experience is strongly preferred.


• Knowledge of electrical systems, industrial controls, or PLCs would be highly advantageous.


• Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills with a practical, hands on approach.


• Ability to work independently and safely in a remote operational environment.


• Strong work ethic and willingness to contribute across multiple operational activities.


• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
