My client is a leading mechanical building services engineering contractor delivering high-quality mechanical solutions across Ireland and mainland Europe. With a strong reputation for excellence, innovation and reliable project delivery, my client specialises in complex mechanical installations across sectors including Data Centres, Pharmaceuticals, Power Generation, Industrial, Commercial, Office and Healthcare projects.

Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, my client is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join their team and take responsibility for the successful delivery of major mechanical building services projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Mechanical Project Manager to join a growing organisation delivering technically challenging projects within some of the most demanding sectors in the industry.

The Role

As Mechanical Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the full lifecycle of mechanical projects from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

You will provide leadership to project teams, coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure successful project execution across all phases of delivery.

Key Responsibilities Project Delivery & Management
  • Take full ownership of the successful delivery of assigned mechanical projects.
  • Manage projects from initial planning stages through to completion and handover.
  • Develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
  • Coordinate site activities, resources, labour requirements and subcontractor performance.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to client expectations.
  • Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Lead project meetings with internal teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors.
Technical Management
  • Provide technical leadership and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Ensure mechanical installations are delivered in accordance with project requirements, industry standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate design development, technical submissions and approvals.
  • Manage technical queries and provide effective solutions to project challenges.
  • Support commissioning, testing and handover activities.
Commercial & Contract Management
  • Manage project budgets, costs and commercial performance.
  • Work closely with Quantity Surveyors to monitor valuations, variations and cost control.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
  • Review subcontractor packages, scopes of work and procurement requirements.
  • Support procurement of materials, plant and specialist subcontract services.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met and project objectives are achieved.
Health, Safety, Quality & Compliance
  • Promote a strong health and safety culture across all project activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, statutory requirements and client standards.
  • Support the implementation of quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure all project documentation, inspection records and handover information are completed accurately.
  • Drive continuous improvement and best practice across project delivery.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead and mentor Project Engineers, Supervisors and site teams.
  • Coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors and suppliers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for mechanical project delivery.
  • Provide clear communication and reporting to senior management.
Candidate Requirements Essential Experience
  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Project Manager within the building services / MEP sector.
  • Strong background delivering mechanical installations on large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience managing projects within sectors such as:
    • Data Centres
    • Pharmaceutical
    • Industrial
    • Commercial
    • Healthcare
    • Power Generation
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, pipework, ventilation, heating, cooling and associated services.
  • Demonstrated experience managing project programmes, subcontractors and client relationships.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and variations.
Qualifications
  • Degree, Diploma or Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
  • Relevant project management experience within mechanical contracting.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, health & safety requirements and quality standards.
