Wolviston Management Services are delighted to be supporting a well established industrial manufacturing business based at Scunthorpe with the recruitment of an experienced Mechanical Fitter.

This is a key, hands on role within a demanding production environment, varied mechanical work and the opportunity to be part of a skilled engineering team supporting critical plant and equipment.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, overhaul and repair of a wide range of mechanical plant and machinery. Working in a safety critical environment, you will play a vital role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting continuous production.

This role would suit a time served mechanical fitter with experience in heavy industry who takes pride in high standards of workmanship and safe working practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across heavy industrial plant
  • Strip, inspect, overhaul and reassemble mechanical equipment including pumps, gearboxes, motors, conveyors and rotating machinery
  • Perform mechanical installations, alignments and repairs to site standards
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective corrective actions
  • Work from engineering drawings, manuals and specifications
  • Support shutdowns, breakdowns and improvement projects as required
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Accurately complete maintenance documentation and reports
  • Work collaboratively with electrical, operations and engineering teams
What We're Looking For
  • Time served Mechanical Fitter with a recognised apprenticeship
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience within heavy industrial, manufacturing or process environments
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics and mechanical systems
  • Ability to fault find and work independently under pressure
  • A proactive, safety focused mindset with attention to detail
  • Experience of permits to work and safe systems of work (advantageous)
