Mechanical Fitter - Distribution Centre

• Location: Bedford
• Rate: £30.00 per hour (all hours worked)
• Contract: Ongoing Long-Term Contract
• Shift Pattern: Rotating Shifts (6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, 10pm-6am)

Mechanical Fitter Required - Starting Monday 29th June 2026

We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join a busy distribution centre in Bedford on an ongoing long-term contract basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to secure stable, long-term work with a competitive hourly rate of £30 per hour for all hours worked, across all shift patterns.

The Role

Working within a large automated distribution environment, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of hanging garments conveyor systems and associated mechanical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Planned and reactive mechanical maintenance on conveyor systems
• Fault finding and diagnosis of mechanical issues
• Replacing and repairing mechanical components
• Carrying out preventative maintenance activities
• Supporting operational teams to minimise downtime
• Working safely and adhering to site health and safety procedures
• Assisting with mechanical upgrades and improvement projects

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
• Experience working on conveyor systems, automated handling equipment or similar machinery
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Relevant mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent) preferred
• Flexibility is essential, as candidates will be required to work a rotating shift pattern
• Positive, proactive approach with a strong focus on safety and reliability
