Contract: 6 months

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Technician to join a specialist engineering team based in Stafford on a 6-month contract.

This is a hands-on mechanical engineering role involving the maintenance, repair, testing, diagnostics, modification and calibration of mechanical equipment.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a heavy engineering, defence, aerospace, automotive, industrial or Ground Support Equipment (GSE) environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repair, testing and fault-finding.
  • Perform diagnostics and identify mechanical faults down to module/component level.
  • Carry out equipment repair, modification, refurbishment and calibration.
  • Conduct functional testing and inspection of mechanical equipment.
  • Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical documentation, OEM/ASI data and approved procedures.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering governance, safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate technical and maintenance records.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex mechanical equipment issues.
  • Work effectively within a controlled engineering/workshop environment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, repair and fault-finding.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification and calibration.
  • Experience working down to component/module level.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience working with OEM data and technical procedures.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience within heavy engineering, defence, aerospace, GSE, automotive or similar environments is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 or Level 4 Engineering qualification, or equivalent demonstrable engineering experience.
  • Recognised engineering apprenticeship/advanced apprenticeship/higher apprenticeship, or equivalent.
  • Ideally eligible for Engineering Technician (EngTech) professional registration in accordance with UK-SPEC.
