As a Mechanical Design Engineer you work on the creation of our new portfolio Tacx indoor trainers and accessories. Being part of our Mechanical Engineering team, you have the chance to implement your knowledge of product design, strength and stiffness, injection molding, sheet metal stamping and other production methods. All while keeping in mind the cost price, development planning, design for assembly and design for manufacturing.
You will be working on new product development as well as implementing changes and continuous improvements to the existing product designs when needed.
The Engineering & R&D department:
In this position you are part of our Product Development department (30 colleagues in total) consisting of Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Software Engineers. Due to our in-house design, engineering, and production, you will work in close cooperation with the Production department. You will report to one of our Mechanical Engineering Team Leads.
At our office and production facility in Oegstgeest, most injection-molded parts are produced on-site, and our main products are assembled in-house. All engineering is done with the technical specifications for mass production in mind.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
- Development of smart engineering solutions for mass production.
- Collaborate and add value through participation in design reviews.
- Properly document the inputs and outputs of the development process as well as your engineering solutions.
- Specify test plans, mockup, and test complex mechanical system with specific performance requirements to validate and verify compliance with design requirements.
- Provide reliable solutions to a wide variety of problems using creativity and sound problem-solving techniques.
- Involve in explorations of new technologies and make estimates on moderately complex mechanical designs including: tooling, part cost, and design time.
What do we expect from you?
- You hold a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Product Design or equivalent.
- Experience using SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar CAD software and the ability to model complex parts.
- We produce our own products and parts, therefore general knowledge of injection molding, machining, die-casting, and their material performance is an advantage.
- Good communication skills in English language, verbal and written.
- Due to the high cooperation between the Design and Production departments, you need to be a strong communicator, with a pragmatic and creative mindset.
- Experience with mass produced products and FEA is seen as an advantage.
