Are you a passionate Maths specialist with experience supporting autistic pupils? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dedicated specialist provision delivering high-quality, autism-informed teaching to KS3 learners.
About the RoleWe are seeking a KS3 Mathematics Teacher to deliver engaging, accessible and well adapted Maths lessons to pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs. Working in small classes, you will use evidence based, autism informed approaches to support pupils' communication, emotional regulation, independence and overall wellbeing.
You will play a key role in shaping an ambitious, well sequenced Maths curriculum that meets individual needs while promoting confidence, progress and a positive attitude towards learning.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, deliver and assess high-quality, adapted Maths lessons for KS3 pupils.
- Adapt the curriculum to meet a wide range of needs within an autism specialist setting.
- Use autism informed strategies including visual supports, structured teaching, predictable routines and sensory/regulation approaches.
- Create a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.
- Ensure learning is accessible, engaging, relevant and appropriately challenging.
- Track progress in both subject learning and EHCP outcomes, providing clear feedback to pupils and families.
- Support pupils' communication, emotional regulation, independence and engagement in school life.
- Implement positive behaviour and regulation strategies aligned with an autism informed approach.
- Contribute to annual reviews, reports, target setting and multi disciplinary planning.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral staff and wider teams.
- Contribute to curriculum development, resource creation, assessment approaches and moderation.
- Engage fully in CPD, reflective practice and ongoing training related to autism and SEND.
- Uphold safeguarding, school policies and the Teachers' Standards.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics.
- Experience teaching KS3 pupils.
- Significant experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ideally in a specialist or SEND setting.
