Overview

UPMC is hiring a Materials Assistant to join our Whitfield Hospital team on a permanent contract within its busy Materials Warehouse department. The role focuses on material requisition, receipt, inventory management, and support of lean initiatives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Material requisition fulfilment, including locating, verifying, and labelling requested materials, performing required system transactions, and delivering materials to the specified area in accordance with work instructions and SOPs.
  • Receiving materials from vendors based on released purchase orders and internal item returns; verifying counts and transferring goods to physical stock locations with the appropriate transaction.
  • Performing weekly inventory cycle counts and monthly/annual physical inventory counts (when required) and resolving any discrepancies identified during the process.
  • Contributing to improvement activities and participating in lean initiatives; assisting with inventory and/or system problem resolution.
  • Coordinating with the Materials Manager regarding delivery delays, quality issues, and other related matters.
  • Collaborating with Finance on invoice queries or delivery docket queries and ensuring timely submission to the accounts department.
  • Adhering to all applicable company policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Attending and completing all scheduled applicable training as required.
  • Performing general housekeeping of the work area and inspecting lift equipment and vehicles prior to operation.
  • Ensuring that all security and access rules are complied with in the warehouse area.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Related experience in a warehouse environment is a distinct advantage.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, able to prioritize competing tasks, with a detail oriented and quality focused approach.
  • Accurate completion of paperwork following good documentation practices.
  • Proficiency in basic math calculations.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision while following detailed instructions.
  • Team player mindset; capable of exchanging information with colleagues, internal customers, vendors, and carriers.
  • Capacity to organize logistics across multiple sites if required.
  • Good IT skills (Excel, Outlook, Word) and working knowledge of warehouse inventory systems (SAP is a distinct advantage).
  • Strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Desirable: experience in a hospital warehouse department.
  • Full clean driving licence is essential.

Salary: €31,282.05 - €38,939.49 per annum based on a 40 hour week.
