Every year, millions of journeys are made on our buses, helping people get to work, school, and the places that matter most.As a Master Technician, you'll serve as the technical focal point within the depot - providing in-depth diagnostics, leading fault resolution, and supporting both the Engineering Manager and on-site engineers. You will specialise in resolving complex mechanical and electrical issues, particularly in engine systems, gearboxes, axles, CAN lines, Euro 5/6 emissions systems, and hybrid/high-voltage vehicle technologies.Key Responsibilities:Lead the depot's complex diagnostics and repairs across mechanical and electrical systemsAct as the go-to expert for OBD diagnostics and advanced fault findingCarry out and guide repairs on engines, axles, gearboxes, emissions systems, electrical faults and hybrid componentsSupport, mentor, and develop engineers and apprentices in diagnostic techniquesLiaise directly with the Engineering Manager and Technical Manager on high-level technical mattersLead technical campaigns, fleet checks, and engineering trialsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, suppliers, and manufacturersWhat We're Looking For:NVQ Level 3 in relevant motor vehicle or engineering disciplineStrong experience with diagnostic software (e.g., Cummins Insite, Volvo Tech Tool, ACTIA, WABCO, Xentry)PCV LicenseEV Bus ExperienceExcellent understanding of electrical systems (including alternators, wiring harnesses, control units)Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)Flexible, solutions-focused approach with the ability to adapt to evolving prioritiesValid UK driving licence (max 6 points)Willingness to undergo and pass a PCV medicalFamiliarity with DVSA/Operating Licence requirementsWhat You'll Get in Return:Competitive salarySunday to Thursday shift pattern for a better work-life balance38-hour working weekExtensive training & development, including:High Voltage Levels 1-4EV training & diagnosticsIRTEC accreditationRoadside assistance trainingFree bus travel for you and a nominated family memberPension scheme, full PPE and uniform providedGenerous holiday entitlement - 20 days + bank holidays (rising to 25 days after 5 years)Access to the Arriva Village - discounts and savings of up to £1,200 per yearWellbeing support and career progression opportunities
