Overview

Job Title: Warehouse Operative

Department: Tubes

Location: Corby

Salary: £27,646 plus 15% shift allowance

Contract Type: 6 month fixed term contract

Closing Date: 26th March 2026

What you will do:

The role of Warehouse Operative is to ensure material is despatched to requirements as safely and efficiently as possible. There is also the requirement to ensure we move inbound into the Warehouse from all mills, working to the plans and within the scope of space/resource available.

Teams operate over 15 shifts over a 3 week pattern, 8 hour shifts: Day shift: 7am-3pm, Back Shift: 3pm-11pm, Night Shift: 11pm-7am.

Warehouse Operatives are rotated on duties, these duties cover the below:

  • Operating MDT for loading
  • Operating MDT for inbound
  • Operating remote crane
  • Housekeeping

Within these duties are the following tasks:

  • Safely load and unload goods using Combi Lift MDT Truck and remote control crane with the aid of slings, whilst checking quality and ensuring that all goods that are loaded or unloaded match the relevant paperwork
  • Internal movements of bundles/equipment using a remote controlled crane
  • Reporting any damaged or missing goods to Warehouse Managers or Team leaders
  • Keeping the warehouse environment clean and tidy and maintaining equipment.
  • Adhere to workplace health, safety and environmental requirements when handling goods to ensure own and safety of others
  • Ensure that all lifting and manoeuvring of product is carried out in accordance with manual handling standards and adhering to operational procedures
  • Treating the product with care and concern at all times
  • Movement of stock around the site using RTS truck, crane using slinging ropes or occasional movement of dunnage using fork lift truck

What you will need:

  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of how to use scanners and relevant software programs, such as warehouse management systems (Training will be provided)
  • Good communication skills with hauliers/shunters to achieve efficient/safe load build for goods despatch
  • Ability to carry out stock take as required, ensuring paperwork/ERP system is up to date
