Come and join JLR as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Electrification - EDU eMachine!
You'll play a key role in how our electrified powertrains are industrialised and delivered. This role is initially focused on supporting Electronic Drive Unit eMachine programmes, with the scope to evolve as our electrification strategy continues to grow.
Based within Manufacturing Engineering and reporting to the GME P Senior Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the role takes full accountability for process and facility delivery. From early programme start through design, procurement, installation, commissioning and into production launch, you will ensure safe, high quality and robust manufacturing solutions through to Job 1 plus 90 days.
You will work across global manufacturing locations in the UK, China and India, collaborating with cross functional teams and suppliers to deliver complex programmes. This is a role for someone who enjoys ownership, problem solving and seeing engineering solutions come to life on the factory floor, helping to shape the future of JLR's electrified manufacturing capability.
WHAT TO EXPECTIn this role, you'll play a key part in delivering high-quality outcomes and supporting the wider team through a range of responsibilities, including -
- Interface effectively with all cross functional stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of unit programmes to approved timing, budget, and quality targets
- Manage critical equipment and facility suppliers end to end, maintaining the correct delivery cadence and strong relationships to support multiple concurrent programmes
- Ensure a safe working environment at all times by rigorously applying JLR Safe Systems of Work throughout installation, commissioning, and retooling phases
- Deliver all required PCDS gateway outputs, including robust process planning through FMEA, control plans, Industrial Engineering tools, and accurate CPU definition
- Lead the development, monitoring, and achievement of project timing plans, equipment capability and capacity targets (OEE, MTTR, MTBF), and effective management of technical issues (CCARs)
- Drive a lean, quality focused culture by coaching teams to deliver lean solutions, highest quality processes, and continuous improvement in customer and business outcomes
- Support conceptual facility planning, gateway cost estimation, and capital investment submissions, while collaborating with production engineering, facilities, suppliers, and Product Design to improve cost per unit and productivity
To thrive in this role, you'll bring a solid background, relevant certifications, and the following key skills -
- Proven expertise in process and industrial engineering for large scale industrial delivery programmes, including the application of structured manufacturing and engineering tools
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing engineering teams through complex projects, with clear, evidenced deliverables and successful outcomes
- Strong and proven project management capability, including ownership of timing, cost, quality and delivery through high pressure product launch environments
- Proven ability to lead complex problem solving activities while managing key internal and external stakeholder and customer relationships
- Solid and practical understanding of the Product Creation System and associated manufacturing deliverables within an automotive environment
- Minimum HNC qualification in engineering, mathematics or a science based discipline, with a degree preferred
- Experience in eMachine programme delivery is desirable, including rotor and stator manufacturing and CTQ process design such as hairpin forming, insulation systems and testing
