The role of Manufacturing Engineer reports directly to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering, with a dotted line to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer. You will be recognized as a technical expert within your discipline, possessing a strong understanding of relevant techniques, theories, and applications, and acknowledged as a 'Subject Matter Expert' in a specific area.

Manufacturing Engineer - Generic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Possess comprehensive knowledge of RBSL's product and process portfolio, or a background in Manufacturing or Process Engineering, enabling you to understand and prioritize manufacturing needs supporting both business and customer requirements.
2. Support procurement by conducting capacity analyses, identifying constraints, and recommending actions to mitigate supply chain risks. Lead technical responses from suppliers to meet production requirements, manage descoping activities to meet financial constraints while maintaining manufacturing capabilities, and support supplier down-selection activities.
3. Develop detailed manufacturing instructions aligned with company templates to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-compliant work practices, referencing PPE, risk assessments, COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, and tooling/lifting equipment as needed.
4. Conduct risk assessments, including dynamic assessments, and PUWER assessments to support SHE and operations.
5. Lead pre-production readiness activities for new equipment, ensuring product quality through collaboration with Quality, training operators on tooling and fixtures, coordinating logistics for parts and consumables, and supporting SHE approval of new technologies and equipment.
6. Drive productivity improvements in existing manufacturing systems using technology where appropriate, and develop new methods in collaboration with production teams.
7. Create, review, and update risk assessments, working closely with SHE to promote best practices.
8. Implement problem-solving initiatives within existing processes, factory layouts, and machinery using tools like Kaizen, TAKT analysis, VSM, and PFMEA.
9. Promote safe working environments, report OSHEN incidents, and incorporate safety into all manufacturing instructions and tasks.
10. Understand MBoM creation from EBoM and structure MBoMs according to process flows.
11. Possess an excellent understanding of PFMEA documents and their development.

Qualifications

• Engineering Degree with experience in Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
• Experience in defining and managing Key Performance Indicators.
• Knowledge of MTRL and manufacturing systems.
• Professional familiarity with relevant engineering standards, including SHE regulations.
• Experience in root cause analysis and implementing countermeasures.
• Security clearance or ability to obtain UK SC clearance - Mandatory.
• Experience working with SAP and Teamcenter.
