Manual / Conventional Machinist

Pay: £15.00 per hour, increasing to £15.50 per hour after 3 months
Hours: 7:00am - 5:00pm
Contract: Permanent

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Manual / Conventional Machinist to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing company on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working with XYZ Lathes and be confident producing components accurately from engineering drawings.

• Set and operate manual/conventional lathes
• Operate XYZ Lathe machinery
• Machine components to required specifications and tolerances
• Read and interpret engineering drawings
• Use precision measuring equipment including verniers and micrometers
• Carry out quality checks on completed components
• Make adjustments to tooling and machinery when required
• Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Manual Machinist, Conventional Machinist, Turner or Lathe Machinist
• XYZ Lathe experience would be highly advantageous
• Good knowledge of manual turning and machining processes
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Good understanding of machining tolerances
• A reliable and hardworking approach
